2nd Capel Brownies

brownies2nd (Monday) Capel Brownies have had a wonderful 2022. We have had a full year of exciting activities. We began our year with a term focussed on knowing yourself better - we did activities like a blindfolded taste test, being friend detectives and planting peas. We did an exciting session being Investigators called The Great Chocolate heist - who stole our chocolate stash?!

We rounded out our winter term with a walk around the village, spotting everything we love and things we could improve. We then did our first pack sleepover at a local Scout Camp. - what a trip! We partook in various community endeavours across the year as well - notably  we did an evening of litter  picking on the afternoon of the Queen's funeral to honour the Queen's sense of duty and community, borrowing the Parish Council's litter pickers - the girls were proud to make the hedgerows of the Playing filed tidier again for a second year. We also ran the Chocolate Tombola for the Church Christmas Coffee morning. We are very happy to have so many wonderful comments about our members and thank you for the opportunity to help - we aim to continue to do so in whatever way we can.

Our Summer term brought out our explorative side - we participated in the Jubilee displays that were at the Community Centre over the Jubilee bank holiday, learnt more about the Queen and her Guiding connection, learnt map reading skills at the nature reserve, made bubbles and learnt how to Geotag at Alton Water. Our Autumn term brought us back out into the community doing a Murder Mystery trail around the village and our annual litter pick. We developed our understanding of how we can make a change, learnt about Christmas traditions around the world and enjoyed our own traditions of campfires and Brownie Promises.

Our numbers are maintaining a constant, of around 20-25 and we cannot emphasise enough the need to put your daughter down early for Brownies - adding them at 7 to start straight away, we cannot do this with our current waiting list. We also desperately need more helpers! If anyone knows anyone please let me know. Our Unit helper, Snowy, is unsure how long she's in the area due to work commitments and then that leaves just me and parent help.

As I look back on 2022, from a Brownie leader perspective, 2nd Capel has had a wonderful year and with our plans so far 2023 looks to be as jam-packed as ever, with another sleepover pack holiday planned for April and a wellness Winter term learning more about first aid skills.
